Shopping Tip

Shopping in Bali usually involves bargaining (except in larger stores and department stores), so never accept the first price quoted. A good guide is to respond with a counteroffer of 25% of the original price quoted, and haggle from there!

However don't make a counteroffer unless you actually intend to buy the item. Once you give a price, no matter how low it might be, you've started the bargaining process and, if the seller agrees on your price, it's considered very rude not to conclude the purchase.
