Shopping
in Bali usually involves bargaining (except in larger stores and
department stores), so never accept the first price quoted. A good
guide is to respond with a counteroffer of 25% of the original price
quoted, and haggle from there!
However don't make a counteroffer unless you actually intend to buy
the item. Once you give a price, no matter how low it might be,
you've started the bargaining process and, if the seller agrees on
your price, it's considered very rude not to conclude the purchase.
