Transiting Tip - Kuala Lumpur Airport

Competitors with firearms and/or ammunition in their checked baggage, who are merely transiting Kuala Lumpur airport (e.g. changing planes or airlines), are not required to apply for a permit, or complete any forms, or take any other action, because the transfer will be done automatically by ground handling staff.

If the competitor is terminating his flight in Kuala Lumpur and wants to exit the airport, he must retrieve his baggage from the baggage claim area, then deposit the firearms and ammunition with Malaysian Customs.

If the competitor wants to actually attend a shooting match in Malaysia, and therefore take his firearms and ammunition with him, then prior arrangements must be made well in advance with IPSC Malaysia, who can be contacted by email.
