Visas & Flights

Visas: General information about tourist visas is available here. However participants are strongly advised to contact the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate, in or near their country of residence, not less than three months before their intended date of departure, to determine the prevailing requirements. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date.

Flights: When performing Online Registration, you must advise your flight number, the airport where you'll first enter Indonesia (Bali or Jakarta), and your arrival date. Similar information is required in respect of your ultimate departure from Indonesia. Accuracy of this information is essential if you'd like to be  assisted at the airport by match delegates.

International airlines with direct flights to Bali International (Ngurah Rai) Airport, Denpasar (DPS), the capital of the island of Bali, include:

Adam Air from Singapore (SIN)
Air Asia from Kuala Lumpur (KUL)
Air France from Paris (CDG) (codeshare with Qantas through Singapore)
Cathay Pacific Airways from Hong Kong (HKG)
China Airlines from Taipei (TPE)
EVA Air from Taipei (TPE)
Garuda Indonesia from Jakarta (CGK) and limited international origins
Hong Kong Express from Hong Kong (HKG)
Japan Airlines from Tokyo (TYO)
Jetstar Airlines from Sydney (SYD) and Melbourne (MEL)
Korean Air from Seoul (ICN)
Malaysian Airlines from Kuala Lumpur (KUL)
Qantas from Darwin (DRW), Sydney (SYD), Melbourne (MEL) and Perth (PER)
Qatar Airways from Doha (DOH)
Singapore Airlines from Singapore (SIN)
Thai Airways from Bangkok (BKK)
Virgin Blue from various Australian cities

Generally speaking, it's preferable to use one airline, from point to point, as this usually means far fewer problems with baggage transfer, especially when transporting firearms. Hence, if possible, if you cannot fly from your city directly to Bali, it's best to book with an Asian airline, whereby you'll transit at their home base in Asia, then onto Bali.

Many other international airlines only fly directly to Jakarta International Airport (CGK), in the national capital, where you'll be required to clear your firearms before taking a domestic flight to Bali. See the On Arrival page here for additional information.

Important note: If you break your journey in Jakarta, then take a domestic flight to Bali, passengers are limited to a maximum of twelve (12) rounds of ammunition each as checked baggage. This is not a typo, but is yet another good reason why you should fly directly to Bali, or at least not to break your journey in Jakarta!

Competitors transiting other intermediary airports enroute to Bali, are strongly advised to read the applicable guidance notes provided below:
