Firearm & Ammunition Permits

Bookings open 25 April 2008 ~ close 30 May 2008

Competitors are required to apply for their firearms and ammunition permits during the online registration process. Once issued, copies of the permits will be sent to your Regional Director (in August or September) by email for distribution.

If, during online registration, you're not sure which firearms you intend taking to the match, you should include all likely firearms on your request, even if a delegate is transporting them on your behalf. Note that you can bring fewer firearms than originally requested, but if you bring more firearms, or firearms which do not match the make, model, calibre and serial number on your permit, they will be confiscated. Need magazines?

Note that Import Permits must be issued in the name of the person physically importing the firearms into, and out of, Indonesia. If you intend to use a delegate, an option to declare their name is included on the Online Registration form.

If you have a travelling companion who is either a non-competitor, or who  is not transporting their own ammunition, and you'd like an additional Import Permit in their name, in order to facilitate the check-in and carriage of part of your ammunition, use the other box provided on the Online Registration form to request that an additional permit be issued in their name.

From the moment you begin your journey to Bali, up until you arrive at your hotel, you should carry with you the original and multiple photocopies of your domestic firearms permit, and multiple photocopies of your Indonesian firearms permit, in case they need to be inspected by authorities enroute, who may require a copy.

When transporting your firearms to and from the range each day, it's only necessary to carry the original and a copy of your Indonesian firearms permit with you. It's also always advisable to carry with you at all times a copy of the page of your passport which bears your photograph.

In accordance with the special arrangements made with Indonesian authorities for the match, competitors who booked their accommodation through the Match Organisers at one of the designated hotels can self-store their firearms and ammunition.

Competitors who did not book their accommodation through the Match Organisers and/or those not staying at designated hotels must store their firearms and ammunition at the central armoury at the Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel. No fees are charged for storage.

If you don't book your accommodation at a designated hotel through the Match Organisers, remember to factor into your daily schedule the extra time necessary each day to retrieve and return your firearms and ammunition to the general armoury at the Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel.

On each day of the World Shoot, competitors not staying at a designated hotel can collect their firearms and ammunition from the general armoury from 0530hrs, on presentation of their claim tag. The firearms must be returned to the official armoury before 2100hrs the same day they were removed, unless you are staying at a designated hotel where self-storage is permitted.

Non-compliance with any of the above is a criminal offence.
